The 1st ability you will notice when the battle starts is Slime Spray. It’s cone aoe damage so try to strafe out of its path. Watch the pre cast and then the channeled cast. Even if you are a bit late to react and take some ticks of damage you should still move. It’s 7k damage per tick. Ranged should sit to the sides of the boss. Melee should keep on moving back and forth.
If everyone would sit to the sides then well… is pointless because he targets a random raid member and chances are he will just target one of the sides.
Next on the agenda are the big green slime pools on the sides of the room. They change from side to side. Stay out of them and tank the boss in the middle. As a pre warning you will see that slime will start poring from the ducts on the side walls just before the slime pool appears.
The Mutated Infection Debuff and the Oozes represent another important mechanic of this encounter. Random players will get the Mutated Infection Debuff. When this debuff is dispelled or finishes it’s duration a Little Ooze will appear next to the player with agro on the player. That player now becomes a kiter and needs to start running around in panic.
Well his objective is to bring his own Ooze close enough to the tank Ooze so that the two can merge... After 5 merges the big Ooze will explode.
So you need to learn how to kite these oozes. Because at one point you will get one on you. Most important thing is that you keep on running. Having some totems and traps around can help.
And remember the debuff, Mutated Infection, it’s a warning that will let you know that you will soon need to start running. You can still dps till 2-3 seconds are left on the debuff. I don’t think is good to dispel the debuff, dispelling increases the amount of oozes running around, just heal through it, it’s around 3.5k damage per tick.
Situations will happen in which you will get an Ooze just as 5 stacks are already on the big ooze and you will have nothing to merge it into. Stay clear of the exploding Ooze. Keep on running till another Little Ooze appears or until the off tank will manage to get aggro on your Ooze.
The off tank will be in charge of tanking and kiting the Largest Ooze , the Ooze that players will try to merge their little oozes into. The larger the Ooze becomes the slower it moves and the harder it hits. At 5 stacks it will explode in a rain of Ooze towards random raiders. Call out on vent or watch your DBM for the Unstable Ooze Explosion.
When the explosion happens you just need to move out like we are doing here. Look above. The Ooze rain will drop on your previous location, so don’t move out too soon, or the rain will drop on you. The tank and boss can chose to stay still if extra healing is provided.
The main tank doesn’t take that much damage, one healer should be enough on him. Is the raid damage that should concern you, with infected people and kiters requiring special attention. Ultimately if enough ppl manage to stay alive you will be successful in taking down this boss.
